Cookie Policy
What we store on your device, and how to change it
This policy explains how CandySweeps uses cookies and similar technologies such as pixels and local storage, what each category is for, and how you can change or withdraw your consent at any time.
It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly, and our Advertising Disclosure, which explains how we are paid.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. It lets the site remember things between pages and between visits — such as whether you have already answered the consent banner. We also use related technologies that work in a similar way, including tracking pixels and browser storage; where this policy says "cookies", it means all of them.
Your choice, and how to change it
When you first arrive, a consent banner asks which categories you are willing to accept. Only the strictly necessary category is set before you choose. Everything else waits for your consent.
You can change your mind whenever you like, and you do not have to clear your browser to do it:
That link reopens the same consent panel you saw on arrival. Withdrawing consent stops the relevant cookies being set from that point onwards; it does not delete cookies already stored, which you can remove through your browser's own settings at any time.
The categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to work and to remember your consent choice. These are set without consent because the site cannot function without them — including the cookie that records what you chose on the banner, which would otherwise ask you again on every page.
Analytics
Tell us how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, how people move through them, where they leave. We use Google Analytics 4 for this. It is how we learn that a page is confusing or a link is being missed. It is not used to identify you personally.
Performance
Measure how the site behaves in practice: loading speed, errors, and how pages are interacted with. We use Microsoft Clarity, which records aggregated interaction data and session replays so we can see where the site is slow or broken. Clarity masks text input by default.
Advertising
Let us measure whether our advertising works and show relevant ads. We use the Meta (Facebook) pixel. If you sign up to our email list, these cookies also allow that action to be attributed to the advert that brought you here. Declining this category does not stop you seeing ads; it stops them being tailored and stops us measuring them.
Functional
Support features beyond the basics, such as our email signup form, which is operated by AWeber.
Third parties who set cookies through this site
Some cookies are set by the companies above rather than by us, and they are governed by their own policies:
- Google (Analytics, Tag Manager) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Platforms — facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Microsoft (Clarity) — privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
- AWeber — aweber.com/privacy.htm
- CookieYes, which provides the consent banner — cookieyes.com/privacy-policy
We also link out to sweepstakes casino operators. Once you follow one of those links you are on their website, under their cookie and privacy policies, not ours.
The cookies currently in use
The full, current list — every cookie we set, grouped by category, with its purpose and how long it lasts — is shown in the consent panel itself:
We keep it there rather than repeating it here because it is generated from an automated scan of this site. A list copied into this page would be a second version of the same facts, and it would be the one that fell out of date.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the cookies on the site change. Because the list is generated from an automated scan rather than written out by hand, it reflects the current position whenever you read it. Material changes to the categories themselves will be reflected in this text.
